All Loni Stanfield was looking for was a good book to read. What she got was enough terror and danger to last a lifetime.

Alec Page is a Dark Enforcer, one of the elite paranorms who patrol by night. Alec is a mimic with the rare ability to take on the powers of the last being he touches. He must use his ability to defeat the evil haunting the streets of Phoenix.

Paranorms are turning up dead with no clues as to who or what is the cause. Drugs are also being distributed that give humans paranorm abilities, wreaking havoc in both paranorm and human realities. Dawson, a powerful sorcerer, may be behind everything, and Alec is out to stop the devastation before it goes too far.

Loni finds herself in a paranorm reality that she read about in a novel and then she meets Alec, the hero of that very book. Soon she finds herself falling for him at the same time she’s discovering magical powers of her own.

Alec is drawn to Loni, no matter that she’s human…and taboo.

When Loni is kidnapped and in the sorcerer’s clutches, Alec must save her as well as save a city on the verge of destruction.

Cheyenne grew up on a ranch in southeastern Arizona. She has been writing ever since she can remember, back to her kindergarten days when she penned her first poem. She always knew one day she would write novels, hoping her readers would get lost in the worlds she created, just as she experienced when she read some of her favorite books.

Chey has three sons, two dogs, and is an Arizona native who loves the desert, the sunshine, and the beautiful sunsets.

Loni Stanfield has just found the coolest little used bookstore, it's almost as if it appeared overnight. The owner suggests a book she thinks Loni will connect with and Loni does enjoy the book, so much so that she runs back to the store the next day to see if there is a sequel. However, the bookstore is gone and in it's place is a man throwing fireballs at her. Her rescuer is none other than Dark Enforcer (paranormal cops) Alec Page, the hero of the book she read the night before. Loni has suddenly found herself pushed into the world of the paranormal to solve a drug mystery. Alec Page wants the pretty human but humans are taboo for a reason..

This book is alright, I wasn't particularly interested in the romance between the two. It just came off as very superficial and rushed. Loni and Alec were just flat for me. The bad guy was good at being a bad guy doing bad guy things and he was written to be this really powerful sorcerer, yet it seemed relatively easy for people to keep thwarting him. Some of the magical parts sometimes didn't make a whole lot of sense or should/could have been further elaborated on. I kind of found myself giving up (or maybe just losing interest) on trying to keep track of how everything worked. It seemed like the author had a lot she wanted to include and I think she may have overextended herself with this.

This just didn't really work for me. I have heard good things about this author so I was surprised that this wasn't that great. However, I would try something else by her, but I won't continue with this particular series.

I really liked this book. I wounder when the next one is coming out, if there is a next one. The door was certainly left open for more books because I want to know what happened with the sorcerer.
Great short book with nice characters that you would like to hear a lot more about. The book has some great love scenes that make you wish for romance.
Is was a very intense book with a lot of details if ou like romance and adventure this will be the book for you
Great writer, loved all her books
I enjoyed the quick story for the most part. It is short and to the point. A great idea, just needs more to make it better. If you enjoy a quick action packed romance this is for you.
Wow..... just..... wow. This book was a bibliophiles wet dream. Who doesn't read romantic fiction and dream that they could be the heroine of the story. Loni is like the rest of us avid readers who fall asleep with book in hand only to dream up the perfect man who is a sexy, intelligent, heroic godlike alpha only she gets to live it. The book is one intense ride from the second she opens the book until the final realization that there is a way that worlds can collide. The spontaneous connection they share and continue to develop as they deal with the threat as well as their emotions and physical desire for each other made this book a DNPDUTLP for me..... do not put down until the last page.
I have to give this author credit for the absolute best story idea ever. When I first read the synopsis of Nights Captive, I immediately thought of The Neverending Story. If any of you haven't seen it, it's about a boy who reads a book and becomes part of it. Well this story was much better because Loni, actually lived it. Who wouldn't want to walk into a book story and have the owner fit you to a book that is just what you are looking for, not only in reading it but living it. Well, that's what Loni got. Walks into a bookstore, takes a book home and the next day begins living apart of that story along with all the characters. How can you not love that?! Nights Captive has all the elements to it that keep you reading. Constant action and adventure, mystery, romance and characters that you can't help but like. Kudos to the author for originality. Can't wait for book 2. Enjoy!
